I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who helps other therapists build an online presence.

I know how to build a successful therapy practice with a hard-working website as my primary marketing tool. I also know what it’s like to be overwhelmed by all of the marketing options thrown at therapists today and feel my inner introvert start to panic a little. As therapists, we don’t live in a vacuum. Building a successful practice, trying to fit in marketing your small business during your “free time,” making the daily transition between therapist and home life…  It isn’t easy, and I’m here to help.

With prior business experience in branding, website design, and photography, I started building my brand as a therapist during grad school. I found that I loved the online marketing process just as much as the clinical work.

I quickly built a thriving private practice. I felt deeply honored to be part of my client’s lives and to bear witness to their personal journeys. As a highly sensitive person from my head to my toes, I also found it challenging not to carry their pain with me and wasn’t very good at just leaving it at the office. I burned out emotionally. I took a much-needed “being a mama” break from my practice and soon discovered that I deeply missed being in the therapy world.

Therapists are my people, and I love helping the helpers (The Therapist’s Therapist). I also decided it was okay to model my own self-care and to give myself permission to honor my emotional limits. So I decided to help the helpers in a different way by sharing what I know having built a very successful practice using a powerful website and a strong online presence… and Growing Therapists was born!

I am the author of the MFT Handbook titled “On the Road to Becoming a Successful Marriage and Family Therapist: An Insider’s Handbook from Graduate School Through Licensure… and Beyond!” The MFT Handbook is required reading in several MFT graduate programs, and the updated second edition will be released in 2018. The MFT Handbook takes a deep dive into how to set up and maintain a successful private practice including what forms you need and where to get them, how to set up a paper or paperless office, how to set up the financial structure of your practice (i.e. a business plan) including templates, how to pick your niche and choose the best marketing tactics to target your ideal client, how to write exceptional website copy and blogs, an overview of private practice taxes, and an invaluable list of resources (plus some exclusive product discounts to help your practice become awesome).

I consult with aspiring MFTs on the licensing process, with newly licensed therapists on setting up a private practice, and with established therapists on re-branding and marketing their practice for success.

I received my bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and my Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Family Therapy from Dominican University of California.

Whether you’re new to the field or established, if you’re not tech-savvy and need some hand-holding on your path to success, or you just don’t feel like doing it all yourself…

I’ve got you covered.

Cris knows how to create websites for therapists.

I would recommend Cris and her design services. I contacted her initially on 2/21/18, and my website is already launched on 3/7/18. I couldn’t be more pleased! I was concerned about the price given that I am new to private practice. I checked out a lot of therapist’s websites. Most of them do the job, but they look uninspiring. After looking into all other options, I decided to invest in a professionally designed website instead of the burden of creating my own. I can thus focus on what I do best – therapy. Cris created a very elegant and beautiful story-telling website for me. It really was worth it. Cris is technically savvy and made the whole process very smooth. Read more…

I feel like I won the lottery of web designers!

My business coach sent me links of people who create websites. I knew nothing about Cris. The investment was so worth it on so many levels. I LOVE my site. I have a site that truly represents the coach I am. Her encouragement, expertise, compassion, and joy helped me to relax and trust that it would all get done. A perfect balance of what I coach…love and leadership. I would recommend Cris because she is an excellent communicator deeply sensitive to the needs of others and of being of optimum service. She has a very beautiful way of being direct and truthful and also encouraging the client to trust themselves. I am incredibly grateful to have found Cris. Read more…
